The most common gait related problem is ankle hyper-pronation. This effects about 70% of the population and tends to run in the family.

Ankle hyper-pronation is a flattening/collapsing of the arch or the feet roll inward. This in turn causes the knees to internally rotate, often looking like ‘knocked knees’. This causes an internal rotation of the hips and causes a strain on the back. Often, one foot is worse than the other with resulting mechanical strain in the lower back, strain in the upper back, neck and base of the skull. This often leads to multiple ankle sprains, plantar fasciitis, ankle pain, knee tendonitis and pain, hip pain, lower back pain, lower neck/shoulder pain and even headaches..

At Pacific Heights Chiropractic & Wellness Center we utilize advanced state of the art Gaitscan™ technology to help us identify gait/foot abnormalities. This assists in the manufacture or customized foot orthotics.
